The Development of Western Capitalism: A Historical Perspective (3,0,0) 3 credits

An in-depth look at the evolution of the economic system to the present day, with an emphasis on the economic problems facing developed and underdeveloped nations. The course will trace the emergence of industrial societies in Western Europe and North America and explore the historical roots of economic growth, the factory system, technological achievements, depressions, population growth, rising standards of living, inflation, unemployment and economic imperialism.
