WorkSafe BC requires all on-campus employees to take WHMIS training. WHMIS is mandatory for students who are:
- enrolled in classes/programs where WHMIS is required
- employees of a TRU/researcher
- on a paid or unpaid placement.
For all other students, we highly recommend that you complete the WHMIS training. In addition to learning valuable information, it’s good to have on your resume and it’s zero cost to you to take.
Welcome Back to Campus Employee Reorientation Training
WorkSafeBC also requires the completion of a reorientation course by employees who have been remote working for at least six months and whose return to campus occurred June 1 onwards.
The COVID-specific training modules that were originally a requirement are no longer required as of Aug. 1, as part of the Communicable Disease Plan that is now in effect.
