McGill Residence
East Village and Coyote Den are full for the Winter 2025 semester. Waitlist applicants will be contacted for spaces at other buildings. Limited spaces still remain at North Tower, McGill Residence and West Gate Dormitories. Please contact the residence of your choice for waitlist status.
Summer 2025 and 2025-26 academic year: applications open February 2025.
McGill Residence has over 300 self-contained rooms, divided into 76 units, in three buildings. Each unit shares a common area and a washroom. All residents have access to a central building with study and recreation space. Each housing unit is assigned to four males or four female students. Gender neutral units are available upon request.
McGill Residence units include:
- Rooms with private outside entrances, some with city views
- A bed, desk, wireless internet, sink, kitchen with microwave, and fridge in each room
- Front desk open 24/7
- Resident advisor support and planned social activities
- A central building with kitchen facilities, card-operated laundry, bike storage, mail, big-screen TV and seating area, barbecue, deck, pool tables, free wireless internet and a study area

McGill Residence overlooks the beautiful Thompson River valley and the City of Kamloops, with a view of mountains on all sides. Our secure student residences are a two-minute walk away from classes, the gym, the Campus Activity Centre, and the world-class Tournament Capital Center. Central Residence, our recreation and social facility, is in the heart of everything you need, such as grocery stores, shopping centres, and public transit.

In order to apply for housing a non-refundable $100 application fee is required.
Upon acceptance a $250 security deposit will be due. This deposit will be fully refundable after move out as long as your account is paid up to date and room is left clean and undamaged.
All rates include a $60 mandatory residence life activity fee that is non-refundable.

If you are unable to see “TRU – MCGILL RESIDENCE” please notify the Residence and we will assist you in selecting the proper payee. Please do not use the payee listed as “TRU RESIDENCE AND CONFERENCE CENTRE” or “THOMPSON RIVERS UNIVERSITY”. To identify your payment, you will be prompted to type in your Account Number which is located on the home page of your My Housing Portal. This is a six or seven digit account number. You can also find this number in the top right hand corner of your invoice.
