Procedure for Admission to UCC Electrical-Computer Engineering Transfer Year 2 after a Year or more of Science Studies

Students who have completed one or more years of Science at UCC or elsewhere may also apply for entry into the EECE Year 2 Transfer Program. By applying for UCC Electrical-Computer Engineering Transfer Year 2, students are in effect applying to pursue an Electrical or Computer Engineering degree at UBC. Successful applicants will have met admission criteria similar to those applied by UBC for to their own Electrical - Computer Engineering year 2 program.

Applications should be received no later than March 1 for admission the following September. Applications will be accepted after March 1 if space permits.

The minimum prerequisites are:

Successful applicants with suitably high standings can expect to receive Engineering transfer credit for selected Science courses completed as outlined in the section describing admission to UCC Engineering Transfer year 1 Engineering from first year Science.

Prior to being eligible for transfer to UBC Electrical or Computer Engineering Year 3, students entering from Science must complete l Engineering Transfer Year 1 and Electrical-Computer Engineering Year 2 course requirements. Admitted Science students will normally be enrolled in a mixture of first year Engineering and second year Electrical-Computer Engineering courses selected in consultation with the program coordinator.

For students who have completed more than 1 year of Science, the following courses may also be considered for advanced credit in the EECE Transfer Year 2 program if standings are sufficiently high:

MATH 211, 212, 300, and 317

PHYS 215 and 225

Depending on prior courses completed, students might require more than 2 semesters of study to earn sufficient credits for transfer into UBC Electrical or Computer Engineering Year 3.

Admission to the EECE Year 2 Transfer program is competitive based on cumulative GPA, grades earned in prerequisite courses, and grades earned in science courses to be applied for engineering credit. Simply meeting the minimum criteria for admission from Science will not guarantee a seat in the program.
