Amanda Elison is a proud alumnus of Thompson Rivers University (TRU) having completed a Bachelor of Business Administration before embarking on a career in Human Resources. She has recently completed a Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management from Royal Roads University (RRU) and hopes to bring the knowledge and skills gained from this program to her work as a Human Resource Professional.
Amanda is currently the Associate Director, Human Resources at TRU. She has over sixteen years in the field of Human Resources and brings this depth of experience and lessons learned as well as her passion for all things people and work related to her role here at TRU. While at work you may find her leading a team of talented HR professionals, collaborating with multiple departments to ensure the employee experience is rewarding or facilitating conversations and workshops to learn and share information with one another across campus. No two days are ever the same. The Service Excellence Initiative is a great example of Amanda’s commitment to leadership, collaboration and facilitation. This initiative, co-led with Sara Wolfe, Assistant Dean of Students, created service standards for the University, supported by training for staff with the aim of enhancing the service culture at TRU. Amanda is extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish as a community through this project. To all of her work and interactions, Amanda brings her core values of appreciating people and differences, demonstrating honesty and spreading kindness.
Amanda grew up in Kamloops and values deeply the connection between TRU and the surrounding community and on a more personal level, with her family. As a child, she watched her mom complete studies as a mature learner while also employed by TRU. This connection with the University ultimately led Amanda to attend school at TRU with family close by and in a community she loves. As an adult, her spouse also returned to the University to complete Trades Certifications, allowing him to work in a career that he enjoys to this day. Amanda’s children also aspire to a post-secondary education at the University and keep a close eye on the Wolfpack Baseball and Swimming teams!
Amanda is best found around ball fields or pools, but when at home she spends her time enjoying the company of her family, friends and many pets (dog, cat and five chickens). She looks forward to contributing to the TRU Envision process.
