Raise your paddle
Fund-A-Need: In support of TRU Wildfire
This year’s Fund-a-Need paddle raise is in support of the new TRU Wildfire: Centre for Wildfire Research, Education, Training, and Innovation.
Supported by the Province of BC, TRU Wildfire actively tackles current and future wildfire challenges with a comprehensive, solutions-focused approach. It unites research, education, training, and innovation, driving co-ordinated efforts under one powerful initiative. TRU Wildfire is on the front lines of tackling one of today’s most pressing challenges — but student researchers urgently need your support to work safely and effectively in the field. Every dollar raised during Fund-a-Need goes directly to equipping graduate students with essential tools for field research led by Dr. Jill Harvey.
Your support will provide critical gear, including: Nomex fire-proof clothing, fire helmets, gear packs, radioharnesses, chainsaws, chainsaw safety equipment and fundsfor travel to remote research sites.
Thank you for giving generously to fundthe future of wildfire research.
What is a paddle raise?
The fund-a-need paddle raise is like an auction, but everyone wins, because everyone gives!
Each guest will have a numbered paddle. The auctioneer will start the bidding high. Everyone that raises their paddle at that level pledges to give at that level. The bidding continues until the needed amount of funds has been raised!
This year you have the opportunity add your fund-a-need gift at the time of your ticket purchase. If you are purchasing a table as part of a company, you have the option to give on behalf of your company.
Fund-a-Need gifts are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
