English for Academic Purposes
Highlights
Develop your ability to understand, speak, read and write English and prepare for academic study in this nationally recognized five-level program. At level four you can take one academic course, and at level five, up to three academic courses.
Careers
At level four of this program, students can take one academic course and at level five students may take up to three academic courses.
Admission Requirements
Open admission
Students are required to take a placement test to determine appropriate placement.
Students whose test results put them at:
- Level 1: are considered full-time ESL students. The curriculum consists of one semester of full-time ESL study. On successful completion, students proceed to Level 2.
- Level 2: are considered full-time ESL students. The curriculum consists of one semester of full-time ESL study. On successful completion, students proceed to Level 3.
- Level 3: are considered full‐time ESL students. The curriculum consists of one semester of full‐time ESL study. On successful completion, students will proceed to Level 4.
- Level 4: consists of four core ESL courses. Students may take one ESL elective or academic course.
- Level 5: consists of two core ESL courses. Students may take three academic courses or ESL electives (up to 9 credits).
