Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Politics and International Studies
Highlights
Political and International Studies offers an interdisciplinary approach towards understanding the established and emerging connections between Western Canada and the Asia-Pacific region. Students examine four course themes: Canadian issues, international politics, Indigenous studies, and methods and theory. Together, these themes shape students’ learning about the historical, social, political, and policy context to explore 21st-century issues between Western Canada and the Asia-Pacific region. Topics of study may include immigration, temporary migrant labour, colonial and anti-colonial politics, international education, investment, municipal twinning, and trade. Understanding the implications of these ongoing tensions and established relationships for Canada’s prosperity and global social responsibility is the primary focus of the Politics and International Studies post-baccalaureate Diploma. Students have unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of the research and career opportunities that continue to unfold through this dynamic exchange of people, commodities, services, and ideas between these two regions in this two-year program.
