TRU experts

A go-to source for wildfire knowledge and expertise, TRU’s team of wildfire experts are regularly featured in news publications around the world, including The New York Times, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Globe and Mail, Wired, Washington Post, Forbes and USA Today. View our experts.

TRU is the only Canadian university with two research chair positions dedicated solely to wildfire science: Dr. Mike Flannigan, BC Innovation Research Chair in Predictive Services, Emergency Management and Fire Science and Dr. Jill Harvey, Canada Research Chair in Fire Ecology.

They are part of a team of wildfire experts leading research on numerous fire-related topics including wildfire behaviour, landscape fire modelling and ecosystem changes resulting from wildfire.
