All residences are currently full for the 2024-25 academic year. Applicants are welcome to apply to be on the waitlist in the event space opens up.

East Village

Bridging the gap between on- and off-campus living, East Village features over 450 beds in four-bedroom furnished spaces and two and three bedroom apartment style suites.


Within East Village, students can choose between four-bedroom furnished suites and a limited number of apartment style suites. Priority is given to upper year students and family’s for apartment style suites. Each suite comes with a private bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen and dining area.

Apartments include all the amenities available in the suites, plus a spacious living area and a balcony.

Both suites and apartments are fully furnished, with all utilities including wireless internet. All residents have access to a central building with recreation, study and laundry spaces.

All East Village units (suites and apartments) include:

  • A bed, desk, sink, kitchen with microwave, stove and fridge in each room
  • A central building with kitchen facilities, card-operated laundry, big-screen TV and seating area, pool table, and foosball table
  • Resident advisor support and planned social activities
  • On-site management
  • Front desk open 24/7 (located at Coyote Den)
  • Security present at East Village from 8 p.m. - 4 a.m. daily
  • Easy access to shopping across the street

Two/three-bedroom apartment

Priority is given to upper year students and families for apartment style units. Apartment style units are only eligible for the three semester term (academic year and summer/Sept. 3, 2024 to Aug. 9, 2025).

Eligibility

Family housing is available for families with or without children. Units are available to TRU students on a yearly basis to a maximum of four years.

Definition of family

For the purposes of admission to TRU family housing units, a family unit can be defined as one of the following:

  • A single parent living with their child/children.
  • A lawfully married couple/common law relationship.
  • A lawfully married couple/common law relationship with their child/children.

Student status

To be eligible for family housing, at least one occupant must be a full-time TRU student.

Number of occupants

The number of occupants is defined according to the size of the unit.

  • Two bedroom apartment: Two adults OR one or two adults with one child under the age of 18.
  • Three bedroom apartment: One or two adults with two children under the age of 18.

In order to apply for housing a non-refundable $100 application fee is required.

Upon acceptance a $250 security deposit will be due. This deposit will be fully refundable after move out as long as your account is paid up to date and room is left clean and undamaged.

All rates include a $60 mandatory residence life activity fee that is non-refundable.

East Village offers a limited number of two and three bedroom apartment style units. Priority is given to upper year students and family’s for apartment style units. To add the Residence as a bill payee search for “TRU East Village” and select the payee titled “TRU East Village”.

If you are unable to see “TRU East Village” please notify the Residence and we will assist you in selecting the proper payee.

Please do not use the payee listed as “TRU RESIDENCE AND CONFERENCE CENTRE” or “THOMPSON RIVERS UNIVERSITY” or “TRU East Village-Dalgleish”.

To identify your payment, you will be prompted to type in your Account Number which is located on the home page of your My Housing Portal. This is a six or seven digit account number. You can also find this number in the top right hand corner of your invoice.
