Campus formal resolution process
1Student and instructor
Download and complete the academic appeal form and email it to the instructor, within 30 days of the decision being appealed, formally proposing a resolution to the issue. The instructor will enter comments and email the form with a signature back to you.
2Student and chair
Email the form to the chair, with the instructor’s comments. The chair will review details of the appeal, enter comments, provide contact information for the appropriate dean, and email the package with completed sections and a signature back to you.
3Student and dean
Email the dean the entire package for review. The dean will review details of the appeal, enter comments and email the package with completed sections and a signature back to you.
4Student
Send the academic appeals form, including signatures and responses to the Office of Student Affairs, along with any supporting documentation (a copy of an assignment if applicable). Include proof of payment of the campus student academic appeal fee.
5Hearing panel
Once the director of the Office of Student Affairs determines the required steps were followed, they will request a hearing panel be convened. The appellent (student) and respondent must participate in an appeal hearing, which may include witnesses and have one support person. As per policy, the support person must be approved by the Office of Student Affairs prior to the hearing.
6Decision
Following a decision, the chair of the hearing panel shall notify the appellant and respondent in writing of the decision, including the rationale.
Appeal
Within 14 days of receiving a hearing panel decision, either party may make a final appeal to the president.
